Jeanne Ruddy Dance, a non-profit contemporary dance company in Philadelphia celebrating its 10th Anniversary, seeks a dedicated, organized full-time Managing Director.  Reporting to the Artistic Director, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of this growing organization. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):  

* Provide advice and guidance to the Board regarding JRD’s policies and its Strategic Plan as well as implement these strategies and monitor progress against the organization’s goals

* Provide support to both Board and staff members, in the execution of JRD’s fund raising plan – this includes writing grant proposals and cultivating/soliciting individual gifts as well as organizing special events

* Assist appropriate staff members and the Board’s Finance Committee in preparing annual and special budgets and monitor all financial and accounting activities.

* Advise on and supervise hiring, of staff and independent contractors, and evaluation of staff.

* Manage and write contracts. 

* Represent JRD to the media, donors, other organizations and the public at large.

* Maintain and keep current organization records, files, archives, website and other access points.

* Manage, direct and calendar all operations, programs and activities of JRD including the annual home season, touring, and outreach programs.
Qualifications and Application Requirements

Skills & Qualifications: 

Key skills must include organization and attention to detail, excellent writing skills, strong computer skills, good phone manner, the ability to multi-task, and possess an upbeat, ‘can-do’ attitude.  

Ideal candidate will have an interest in contemporary dance, Bachelors degree and a minimum 2 years experience in a non-profit cultural setting, particularly in regards to fundraising and financial management.  Desired start date summer 2010.
