Spirals from Nature into the Body- Prague Workshop
Creative and composition week holiday
workshop guided by Javier Cura & Moss Beynon Juckes
At Bechyne Franciscan Monastery, Czech Republic.
From 7th till 15th of August
Physical movement is a constant dialogue with gravity. The use of
spiral trajectories help to deal with it in a more efficient way.
Coincidentally this form of movement can be observed in water dynamics
and in living organisms. In this way, the practice and search for
fluidity and spiral dynamics can be a path to arrive to our own organic
movement.
The spiral structure will be observed in nature, in our bodies and in
architectural sites. It will be translated practically and
metaphorically into different levels, establishing cross-references and
multiple associations.
In a physical level we will use common elements of Tango, Martial Arts, Contact Improvisation that relate to it.
It will also be translated into other spheres: as a way of structuring
an improvisation or a movement through repetition and transformation.
Following into sound and voice work through rhythmic cycles and minimal
transformations.
We will create an environment to share and exchange specific
characteristics, expressive qualities, creative dialogues and
compositions. This creations and structured improvisations can also be
the foundation for a group composition. At the end of the workshop we
will make a performance evening for the local and invited people, in
the studio or outside in the old village.
In this way, combining leisure time with creative work we hope to
access a deeper insight into ourselves, our partners and our creative
expressions.
